Glycochenodeoxycholic acid
Glycochenodeoxycholic acid (GCDCA) is the glycine-conjugated form of the primary bile acid chenodeoxycholic acid, a potent FXR agonist central to bile-acid signalling, lipid absorption, and metabolic regulation. As a salivary bile acid it reflects enterohepatic circulation and gut-liver axis function, which are perturbed by the gut motility and permeability changes of prolonged exercise. Chiang (2013) detailed the metabolism and signalling roles of conjugated bile acids.
