Oleoyl ethanolamide
Oleoyl ethanolamide (OEA) is an N-acylethanolamine lipid mediator that acts as a PPAR-α agonist and endogenous modulator of pain, inflammation, and satiety signalling through non-cannabinoid receptor pathways. In the context of pain and analgesic monitoring, OEA levels reflect endocannabinoid tone and the body's endogenous anti-nociceptive response, with elevated concentrations indicating active pain modulation or NSAID use. It is part of the N-acylethanolamine family that counterbalances pro-inflammatory prostanoid signalling.
