Prostaglandin E2 ethanolamide
Prostaglandin E2 ethanolamide (PGE2-EA, prostamide E2) is a hybrid prostanoid-endocannabinoid lipid mediator formed at the intersection of the COX-2 and endocannabinoid pathways, contributing to both inflammatory pain sensitisation and nociceptive modulation. Its presence in saliva reflects active cyclooxygenase-mediated lipid inflammatory signalling and is relevant to monitoring NSAID and analgesic medication effects on the endocannabinoid system. Elevated levels indicate unresolved inflammatory pain states.
